BOSC Holiday Tour of Homes
Forget 8 Maids a-milking….8 Holiday Homes Celebrate the Season!
Those looking for some holiday inspiration needed to look no further than BOSC’s 2nd Annual Holiday Tour of Homes! From the wooden soldiers lining the walkway to one home to the 35 Santas spread throughout Quarters One, this year’s decorated homes each had their own unique, festive style. One highlight of the day was a visit by Virginia First Lady Maureen McDonnell who graciously met BOSC members and helped with our Cookie drive for Belvoir’s single soldiers. Mrs. McDonnell had words of encouragement when she met with member of BOSC’s Hearts Afar Club (those with a deployed spouse). The huge crowd at the Fairfax Village Neighborhood Center gathered for a fantastic presentation by Belvoir Historian Gus Person. Sincere thanks to Casey Nolan, Clark Realty, the Villages of Belvoir Housing Office, and Design Cuisine Catering of Arlington for donating our fabulous catered refreshments
.
The Twilight Tour kicked off with the Mount Vernon High School Choir who serenaded those on the walking tour with holiday songs. BOSC would like to thank those generous families who opened their doors and invited us all into their homes for a spectacular peek at their special family traditions and their unique holiday treasures. The Club raised thousands of dollars for the 2012 Military Scholarship Fund.

BOSC Craft Boutique and Family Funfest
"Wow, so many shopping choices!” That was the popular sentiment at this year’s BOSC Craft Boutique and Family Funfest at George Mason Field House. Over 140 vendors displayed their handcrafted wares and those in attendance delighted in the chance to get a jump on their holiday shopping. Youngsters were thrilled to sit on Santa’s lap and rattle off their wish lists. Many more wish lists were probably inspired by the fantastic Silent Auction items and memorable Opportunity Baskets -- together these activities brought in over $1,300! The Funfest featured entertainment throughout the day. A highlight was the Boyle Irish Dancers! Also, Washington Capitals’ Mascot Slapshot provided everyone with a few laughs! The day at the Funfest was not complete without lunch and a visit to the BOSC Gingerbread Bakery with a delightful display of yummy baked goods created with love by our generous BOSC members.
The BOSC family came together and put on a spectacular event. Thanks to all the BOSC members as well as husbands and kids who helped to make this great event possible.
